EMDR Intensives

Accelerated trauma healing in focused, extended sessions.

At Brighter Paths Counseling & Wellness, our EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) intensives offer a powerful, concentrated approach to trauma processing and emotional healing. Designed for clients seeking faster progress or deeper work in fewer sessions, EMDR intensives provide an extended, uninterrupted space to move through challenging material with focused therapeutic support.

What is an EMDR Intensive?

An EMDR intensive is a longer, 3-hour session dedicated exclusively to EMDR therapy, allowing you to engage deeply with the process without the usual weekly breaks. This format is ideal for clients who want to accelerate healing from trauma, reduce distressing symptoms, or address complex issues that benefit from sustained therapeutic attention.

Please note: EMDR intensives are best suited for processing recent traumatic experiences that have occurred within the past six months. For older or more complex trauma, a traditional, paced therapy approach may be recommended to ensure safety and thorough integration.

How It Works

The EMDR intensive process begins with a preparation session, which is a standard 50-minute appointment charged at $175. During this session, your therapist will conduct a thorough assessment of your current symptoms, trauma history, and coping resources. This time is also used to build a trusting therapeutic relationship and teach you essential grounding and self-soothing techniques. These skills are crucial to help you manage any intense emotions that may arise during the intensive session.

Once you are well-prepared and have established a safety plan, we schedule the 3-hour intensive EMDR session, priced at $750. This extended session allows us to work deeply on processing trauma memories without the typical week-long gap between sessions, maintaining therapeutic momentum. During the intensive, your therapist will guide you through the structured phases of EMDR therapy, including history taking, preparation, desensitization, installation, body scan, and closure—all tailored to your unique needs.

Breaks will be offered as needed to ensure your comfort and emotional regulation throughout the session. Your therapist will continuously monitor your responses, adjusting the pace to maintain safety and effectiveness.

After the intensive, your therapist will provide guidance on self-care and strategies to help you integrate the work between sessions. Depending on your progress and needs, follow-up sessions may be recommended to support ongoing healing and stabilization.

Who Can Benefit?

EMDR intensives are ideal for individuals who have experienced recent trauma within the last six months and want faster symptom relief. They work well for those dealing with anxiety, PTSD symptoms, or panic attacks related to these events.

This format is also helpful for people with busy schedules or travel limitations who prefer fewer, longer sessions over many shorter ones. Clients motivated to engage deeply in therapy and ready for an intense but focused process often benefit the most.

Because the sessions are concentrated, it’s important to be emotionally prepared and have some experience with therapy (if possible) or coping strategies. We work closely with each client to ensure the intensive is safe, effective, and tailored to their unique needs.

If you’re looking to accelerate your healing or need concentrated support to process difficult memories, an EMDR intensive may be a good fit.

What to Expect

Your preparation session ensures you feel safe and ready before the intensive work begins. During the 3-hour intensive, your therapist will guide you through EMDR phases tailored to your needs, with breaks as needed to maintain comfort and stability.

Because this is a concentrated process, some clients find it emotionally intense but also experience rapid symptom reduction and improved emotional regulation afterward.
